Days 3 & 4 - Seattle Street Walk and Run to the Hills
Day 3 - Jet lag still in force so a spritly 6am rise! Walk down to Pike Street Market and seeing the sights and sounds of a city waking up. Market full of the sights and sounds of which a camera can never do it justice. Stopped off for Starbucks to appease a certain MeridianAriel of which the eldest found Starbucks for the very first time….wants to know why UK can’t have one? Yep, he’s 14 going on 8 at the best of times!! His excuse? Jet lag! Our city trek ends with picking up rental car and taking out of the city and out into the Southern Cascades within 15 miles of Mt Ranier. Still hot a mere 103F and 75F at night.
Day 4 - Visitors in the back gardens get us up and moving!! A herd of Elk grazing out back get the young ones (and old ones) excited!!! Breakfast of Kings next - Pancakes, Bacon, Eggs and Syrup……M.M.Mmmmmm. Off to Ranier and a mere 6,200 feet altitude change, thank goodness for cars and sincere admiration for the cyclists who were completing a race incorporating this climb! Beautiful part of the country including our first bear sighting as a cub lolloped across the road!! Mentioned it to a surprised Ranger….apparently we are v.v. lucky!
One more night in the mountains and off to the beach…..Oooh here’s hoping for a sea breeze! :)
